If You’ve Fallen, You Can Get Up!
The LORD said that He would make a new covenant with us but that it would not be according to the covenant that He made previously when He gave the law (Jeremiah 31:31-32). The Bible specifically states that the law is weak (Romans 8:3). In Galatians 4:9, TLB translation, He further states, “And now that you have found God (or I should say, now that God has found you), how can it be that you want to go back again and become slaves once more to another poor, weak, useless religion of trying to get to heaven by obeying God’s laws?”
Whenever we have not made a clean break from the old covenant of the law, we nullify the grace that we have in Christ. We fall from grace (Gal 5:4) and the better promises from the better covenant are adversely affected by the law even though the law is weak. We therefore live in lack and in want. Where I want us to focus, is on the principle, that it only takes a little law to cause us to fall from grace.
Gal 5:9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
1 Corinthians 5:6 … Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
If you are serious about the better promises, then determine not to fall from grace. Don’t just be saved from hell while living here on earth cursed and miserable. Experience all that Christ, our eternal High Priest, lives to provide for you. Do what 1 Corinthians 5:7 admonishes: “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:” Know your High Priest, know your new covenant! Join us in study as we explore the better promises together.
