Have NO Fear
The coronavirus has single-handedly spread fear throughout every nation on the planet. Let’s pause and take note that God has not given us this fear, “… He has given us the spirit of power, the spirit of love and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). While the media and many well-meaning organizations are dispensing copious volumes of information about this virus, we can minimize exposure to that and immerse ourselves fully in the Word of God and the good news of our covenant.
Fear originates from what we hear and is defined as timidity and cowardice which results in immobility, stagnation, even slothfulness. It is highly infectious. Throughout the Bible we are emphatically and repeatedly told to “Fear not!” Despite how you may feel at this or any moment, the good news is that we have power, power from God and it’s in our very own mouths (Pro 18:21 KJV Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: …). We can invoke life to our lives and death to anything outside of our covenant. Look at this example:
Exodus 2:23-24 NKJV … the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry came up to God because of the bondage. 24 So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
The children of Israel were in bondage for 400 years and in that span of time there is no record of them crying out, but when they did, the slavery ended. Slavery was never God’s will. We often think that we have the intellectual, financial and overall innate capacity to take care of ourselves. That’s where we have gone all wrong. We can do some things, but not all things. We need our Father God and we need Him for absolutely everything all the time. As soon as the children of Israel used their tongues (they groaned) their covenant of grace took effect and their bondage was vanquished.
God made us to have dominion. That hasn’t changed, but it’s our choice of whether we go it alone or embrace His covenant and His provision to reign in life. We can listen to the news, feeding that spirit of fear or we can listen even more intently to God:
Acts 7:34 NKJV “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt; I have heard their groaning and have come down to deliver them…”
Groan! He will hear and He will help. There is deliverance for us in our own mouths. Our Father, the Most High God, is patiently and lovingly waiting for us to just trust His Word.

Psalm 46:1-2a, 10-11 NKJV God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear… 10 Be still, and know that I am God;… 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
